Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I was typing an email recently, and did something to make my question mark go away and start acting like an underscore.. How can I fix this_ I've checked my system preferences and selected English. I´m dumbfounded.

That is the Spanish ISO input source. You should find ? at Shift -.
I don´t know how that could be possible if you have only US in your Input Sources list. Did you restart your mac? Please post a screenshot of what you have in system preferences/keyboard/input sources.

I’ve done the System Pregerences thing
The system preference where you choose "English" is not relevant. The only one that matters is where it says Input Sources, like below. Tell us exactly what you have on your list there.
Easy things first: if an Apple keyboard with a power switch turn off the keyboard, give it about 20 seconds, then turn it back on. If that doesn't correct the problem, restart the computer and test.
If it is still not working, post back and we can try so other things.
Go to system preferences/keyboard/input sources and make sure you have only one item on the list, and that is called “US”.

I’ve tried that. I’ve also tried rebooting my computer. I’ve done the System Pregerences thing and a zillion others.
