MacBook Pro built-in camera not working

My MacBook built-in camera has not been working. I have tested it on Facetime, Photobooth, and other software like Skype or Zoom. When I click Facetime, the image stays black while the green light will turn on after a few seconds it turns off.

I have tried typing in terminal: sudo killall VDCAssistant, and nothing changes. I have also logged in on other accounts and it doesn't work on those either. I have also updated my laptop and nothing changes. There is no reason my camera should be damaged so I am confused as to why it is like this.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Hey carly66,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I understand the built-in camera on your Mac has stopped working. It sounds like you've tried some great steps to help with this but are still unable to use it as expected. To start, what do you see when you check the System Information for your Mac? You can check here to confirm that the Mac recognizes that the built in camera is working. About System Information on your Mac

If not, due to the nature of the issue, you’ll find more appropriate information by using another one of Apple's support resources to help get this resolved. You can reach out to us using the following link: Contact Apple Support. Alternatively, you can visit an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider near you that can take a look at this using this link here: Find Locations

Cheers.
