My order was “shipped” four days ago, still no tracking number

Hi everybody,

I’ve ordered two MBPs (one of them is a BTO) with some cables and adapters. I’ve received an email and a text from Apple saying the order has been shipped on Wed 20 Feb. However, I still have no tracking number and the ETA given by Apple seems extremely long (05 March).

On the order details page, it says the following (in French as I’m from France):

”Please note: Your items are in different warehouses and will be collected before being delivered by the carrier. Once all items are together, you will be able to view the status of your order for the latest carrier tracking information, including the estimated delivery date.”

I’ve never had this with an Apple order and never had such a long shipping time. Has anybody ever experienced this?

Thanks

Patience is for sure a vertue, but it’s an order for our startup company as our two other devices were in an accident and we’re now left without laptops. This post was more of a way to find out whether other people on here have experienced this and what was their experience (what kind of delays to expect, etc.). Thanks for your quick reply though.

Crazy how some people on forums feel the need to get on high horses. If I ordered it via the Apple Store for Business it’s because we had reasons to. I’m just asking for people’s experience with this particular situation (having items in separate warehouses and a quite long ETA), how long they had to wait for a tracking number to be sent and whether it did indeed take this long for their order to be delivered (a 12-day delivery is surprising). So if you’ve got nothing to contribute don’t feel the urge to reply...

Sorry but I think I said "my experience" is that you will receive your product on or before the promised date. I'm confused, did you not ask for our experience? I also suggested that if the promised delivery date does not meet your requirements you could have ordered elsewhere. Why do you see that as a problem rather than a helpful suggestion? If you don't want responses when you ask for them then I don't know what to say.

"My experience" is BTO can be unexpected long, depending on the backlog, factory, supply line, the winter weather ...this is all so unpredictable .

I am sure Apple takes your order very seriously. Standard order fly out the door. SO you have one package waiting on the other package as a complete order.

Maybe next time, make them two different orders for fast delivery and a delayed deliver.

I’m sure they do, no doubt about that. What is surprising is that they marked the whole thing as shipped three days after ordering, so we’re in the unknown about whether the order has actually shipped (and if yes, 13 days to be delivered from China to France seems odd, our previous BTO MBP had taken 3 days to be prepared and 3 days to be delivered). Hence our surprise. The Business Specialist told us on the phone when we ordered that it would take 3-4 business days to arrive after it was shipped.

Anyway, I guess we’ll just have to wait :)
