Make sure to log out of the Appstore and close it before running this terminal command.

defaults write com.apple.appstore.commerce Storefront -string "$(defaults read com.apple.appstore.commerce Storefront | sed s/,8/,13/)"

log out of App Store and type the above in terminal (in utilities) under Applications. This fixed it for me.

Just follow these steps:

1. Make sure to log out BOTH from iTunes and App Store and have BOTH of them closed.
2. Open Terminal Comamand
3. Copy the whole string and press enter

defaults write com.apple.appstore.commerce Storefront -string "$(defaults read com.apple.appstore.commerce Storefront | sed s/,8/,13/)"

4.Open App Store and sign in to your account.

I've completed the recommended actions in both articles and still cannot download apps from the app store. This includes checking system status, software updates, and deleting the /adi folder as specified in the first article. I've restarted my computer as well. What other recommendations do you have to address this problem?

I'm having the same problem as well. In addition to not being able to sign into the App store, I am unable to sign into iCloud under System Preferences. I can however sign into iTunes, which is odd, but I need a remote desktop App from the App Store in order to complete my work. Please provide a solution ASAP.

Well, nevermind. It seemed like it worked because I don't get the error, but xcode just keeps cancelling the download and showing the little cloud symbol
