GarageBand 101 Editing

After recording a voice track, I go in and remove any long pauses or errors. I've never used GarageBand before, but I have used other editing software. Before, I would highlight the section I wanted removed and hit delete. This works in GarageBand, but it breaks the wave file into 2 pieces. My question is, is there a way to remove what I want to remove without splitting the wave file? I'm going to end up with hundreds of little pieces! Is there a way to merge 2 different wave files on the same line? Maybe that would work.

no


what you can do is in the timeline select the region to edit, drag the playhead to the start of the area to remove, press ⌘-t, then move the playhead to the end of the area you wish removed and again press ⌘-t, and finally with the area you wish to delete selected, choose the Delete and Move menuItem from the Edit menu; this will close the gap made by the removed segment:
