USB-C external monitor black screen after sleep
I have the same issue as the one brought up by forestforger in his post. I couldn't post there anymore because the thread was too old.
I have a 2018 Macbook Pro with a touchbar running on OS 10.14.3 and a Lenovo Thinkvision X1 27" screen connected to it directly with a UCB-C cable.
Almost every time when I wake up the computer after it goes to sleep, the external monitor stays black. The built in screen wakes up and the computer still knows that the external screen is connected because all the open windows are on the black screen.
As far as I can tell there is no other way to bring the screen to life than restarting the computer. I tried powering the scree on and off, putting the laptop to sleep again, unplugging and plugging in the screen again. I also tried mirroring the built in display which makes it go crazy. I get this scrambled image that looks as if the screen was broken. The best outcome I can get is to unplug the screen, put the computer to sleep, wake it up and then I have all the windows on the built in screen which lets me save everything and restart the computer.
Any solution for this? It is extremely annoying!
