Every so often my iPhone beeps rapidly four times. I have no notifications and there is no 4-rapid bleep sound effect to select, so it must be an internal function. Could it mean that the battery is fully charged? It only seems to happen when on my desk and plugged in to power.

Ironically, I have found the answer to my own question!
It WAS a notification in the end. The sound effect is called "Pulse" and it was just one of my many email accounts still with "sounds" enabled but no "Banners" enabled, therefore a sound without the visual prompt.
I hope this helps other people with the same issue.
