MacBook Air Randomly Logging Out

My 2018 MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015 model) will randomly log me out of my account. This will usually occur right after I have logged in, when I am using multiple programs at once (i.e. Safari and Mail), or if a program or website is is loading. The MacBook almost acts as if it is working too hard and takes me to the login screen, where I have to sign in again. It has happened multiple times recently and I cannot figure out why it is doing this.

Hi AppleInclination,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble with your Mac directing you to the login screen unexpectedly. I’m happy to provide some steps that may help. To start, I suggest seeing if restarting in safe mode helps:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, I suggest resetting your SMC / NVRAM:

How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Lastly, you’ll want to test in another user to see if the issue persists:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.
