Hello. I have a mid 2012 MacBook Air. It only has 227 cycles and it is telling me to service the battery. The battery will only last 3 hours on a full charge and the health is 77%. Is this normal? Does the battery need to be replaced? If so, where can I purchase a reliable battery that will work? Thanks.

Even though the battery only has 200+ cycles, it is 7 years old, so it may simply be on its way out. Now, depending on the exact model, yours may already be on the vintage/obsolete product list which means that they will no longer service it.

Yes, it sounds like your battery has gone bad. I would get it replaced (or maybe even try to get a newer MacBook if available) with an actual Apple battery. You can do this at any Certified Apple Repaire Centre or with the big cheese themselves. Never ever try to replace your battery yourself, as you can damage the device and possibly hurt yourself.
