Can't email Notes

I have an iPad Pro 9.7 running ios 12.1.4. I have created a note the NOTES app but cannot send it to someone via email. While in the created note I tap the share icon which shows the apple MAIL app. Tapping this formats an email and lets me enter recipient address but after tapping send, the email disappears and nothing is sent. Note is stored on iCloud. All apps up to date

Well done - You have put me on the right track. Thanks.

Just to fill you in though, here's what I have found.

  • I cannot send any photos SENT from Photos app to Notes app to either icloud or gmail mail
  • I can send photos (large or small size) that have been IMPORTED to Notes from Photos (or Taken in Notes app) from icloud notes to icloud mail, but NOT to gmail (just random characters received)
  • I cannot send icloud notes to either icloud or gmail mail from my gmail account at all (nothing received) - logical
  • When creating a note in the gmail account, the circled "+" does not appear as an option, so I cannot IMPORT or TAKE photos in that note.

All up, I can do what I wanted if I only intend to send notes to icloud mail from icloud Notes (but that is not the case) so I'm afraid this process will not do for my "on the cheap" photo blog.

Thank you very much for your help and patience.

Just to let you know where I have got to with my testing - I can send any text note, but nothing with pictures of any size (I have now discovered how to make them much smaller). I have also found that I am unable to send and hand drawings made in Notes, so I'm assuming, no graphics of any sort.

With the smaller size, the emails do get sent, but they arrive just as a screen full of random characters. Very frustrating considering that with the decreased size of my pictures I could actually use the Notes program for my original purpose.

Any further suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks sberman - Just sent a three line text Note with no problems. The one I am having problems with is large (abt 100mB) with pictures and text. Perhaps I will just need to experiment a bit, and try to cut down the size of the pictures before I include them in the note. If I find out more I will post an answer.

Thanks for you quick response, and if you have further ideas based on above I would love to hear them.

Thanks again for your response.

Yes the Note is on iCloud, and I have tried all combinations of sending and receiving to/from icloud and gmail accounts, all with the same random character results whenever I send any pics/graphics. Could I please ask if you are able to do this?

I am not sure whether it really should work or not. I assume it should, but so far don’t know of anyone who has done it.
