Apple TV: "Oops… Needs to re-authenticate"

I get an error code on one episode of an ABC shoe that reads: "Oops… Needs to re-authenticate. Code 012-1201-704". I have tried resetting Apple TV and deleting (but not clearing) and re-opening the ABC app without success. Any ideas what this is and how to fix it?

4th generation. Device restart didn't help. I managed to fix the problem by signing up for an abc.com account and re-entering/re-authenticating my ABC app. However the abc.com site and my AppleTV ABC app were already syncing my episodes and this only came up when I tried to watch the most recent episode of The Rookie on my AppleTV. I had to do the fix through the internet and it only fixed the problem on the AppleTV app after I started watching the episode on the abc.com site. I'm not even sure at what point the problem resolved as it took several log-ins and at least a couple activations by codes and re-entering of my provider, which was already registered and saved on the internet site. We'll see if it holds when the next episode of The Rookie posts next week. Pretty strange! (Thanks for your interest and assistance, btw.)

deleting (but not clearing)

Not sure what that means.

This seems to be about a verification between the app and your pay TV provider, that grants you access to content from that network. Try device restart to re-authenticate. If that doesn’t work, contact both about the issue.
