Artist vs. Album sorting/view in iTunes (on my MacPro and iPod)
I imported ALL of my vast library onto my new MacPro (started fresh from a bad version on my prior MacAir). I noticed that when I was looking for "artists" to play on my iPod (i.e. Prince, a-ha, The Runaways) these artist would not show up in my 'Artist' view?? {I know I have songs by these groups, individuals but they wouldn't show} HOWEVER if I knew the song name I could go to 'Song' view and they would be there?
Odd; so then I researched when I returned home using my laptop and they were listed in the Compilations section. I wanted to be able to turn on the iPod, select artists, and find the artist and hit play on that artist to listen to all songs by that artist; so I removed the check from the checkbox "Album is a compilation of songs ..." This immediately put each of the artists in my artists listing. VERY ODD, but I was temporarily pleased. I would be able to be on the train and select a particular artist. Why would iTunes not be able to have a movie soundtrack or whatever but still show the Artist in the Artist sorting?
I thought I was fine with this as a solution and unchecked the box for about 30+ CDs that I had loaded (i.e. Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix) and I could see each of the band names/artist when I was in Artist view. *great I thought.
But later I wanted to play the Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix (the full CD of tunes) and switched to the "Album" view and now... I saw the Album but it only has 1 song and then you have to look for each individually?? WHAT (how had this fixed my artist issue but now made playing an album impossible)? It has an Album name and an Artist name in the records data so how can this be an issue. There is no way in 2019 that a computer couldn't organize by Artist and then if switched (i.e. If I want to hear an album that has a few different artist such as a soundtrack that it couldn't do that?)
I find it hard to believe. That just seems impossible. I can easily create and MS Access Database or even an Excel log and filter by either one grouping type or another. I've just spent days reloading over 7,000 songs and even bought new iPods since I'm a music fan and I like to have my songs/albums while on the go.
