How to organize Various Artists albums so that the individual artists don't all get their own folder in Artists view
Most of my Various Artists albums are soundtracks, and many of the songs are by artists whom I don't have any other songs by. I hate when I scroll through Artists and each of these artists gets their own listing, it just clutters up the view too much and makes it harder to find what I'm looking for. I used to just change both the Artist and Album Artist fields to "Various Artists" to guarantee this wouldn't happen, but then I lose the ability to see who the original artists was, which isn't great either. I've been playing around with it, and what seems to work is if I change the Album Artist to "Various Artists" but keep the actual artist name for the Artist field. Can anybody confirm this will in fact give me the outcome I'm looking for?
Also, I have 2 other questions:
1) Will this produce the same outcome in Google Play Music? I organize all of my music in iTunes, but I don't have an iPhone, so I use Google Play.
2) Is there any benefit to marking the songs in these albums as "Album is a complication of songs by various artists"? I actually don't like when albums get marked as compliations, because they end up in the Compliations folder under the \iTunes Media\Music folder, but I would much rather them either be in the folder for the specific artist (for single artist compilations), or under Various Artists (for soundtracks/etc). I'm just not sure if there's some un-seen benefit to marking things as compilations?
