Syncing music from an old MacBook Air to a new iPhone X

Hi there...

I need some help getting my 4500 songs from iTunes on my Mac onto my iPhone X.

My MacBook Air is fairly old (mid 2011) and is running OS X Yosemite. It cannot be upgraded beyond that, as a result my iPhone won't sync to the Mac as is it's running the latest OS which is no longer compatible with Yosemite.

I'm hoping there is an easy fix to rescue these tracks and get them on my iPhone,

iOS 12 requires iTunes 12.8 or better running on OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan or better. I suspect you can update your Mac to High Sierra, otherwise a workaround for music is to use iTunes Match or Apple Music, and use iCloud for backup and data transfer.

I am not able to upgrade the MacBook any further. It’s reached its peak sadly.

What would the workaround be with Apple Music?
