Headset mic not working

I have a Macbook Pro 2017 and the headset I am using is the Turtle Beach Recon 300's. I can hear through the headset but it will not show the headset as the input through the audio settings, so in turn it uses the internal mic through the computer. What can i do to fix this so that it works solely through the headset?
