ctmp folder?

I was looking for some music presets in my application support folder and noticed a folder called ctmp containing

miniQmax.winsecurity

miniSCSI.winsecurity

quaniaudio.winsecurity

This sounds awful suspicious and I've never seen these files, and I am pretty versed in these folders. After searching the web there's very few results, one other apple discussion but it had little info. Can anyone advise? I'm running alot of hardware and software here and do not want to risk security on a production computer. Thanks in advance.

My search of the Internet indicates it is adware/malware.

Try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware The program will do the work for you which makes it easy.

Here is a link to some manual uninstall instructions, but please do not download any of the suggested removal programs besides Malwarebytes.

thank you. I did run makwarebytes and it didn’t pick up on them, I still find it weird but I was able to chase down the time created to some software I installed and it appears they are a part of a DAW plugin, I can’t remember ATM but it was either biotek2 or one other. I will confirm back because I do know there is another community member asking a question about the same folder and I find the winsecurity thing so weird

Eric Root, man much appreciated the few times I’ve used the community there’s been some really aggressive folks. For the sake of suspicion though, any thoughts as to why a file would ever have an extension named like that? I mean I totally get the .exe angle but it was not an executable, it was a .winsecurity extension and that’s what is puzzling, no origin....unless it has something to do with crossover in wine possibly, but I don’t use wine. A more detailed search online happened to bring up some oddly consistent responses for “unbeatable tic tac toe algorithm” I mean, is it odd or am I just overthinking it? The mention of SCSI is odd too....thanks for your time this is solved, I’m just curious to hear your thoughts before I start an inquiry on odd file types. Thanks Eric Root. 💯
