How to remove master boot record
I have a Seagate drive that I want to partition. I cannot use Partition in Disk Utility as its greyed out...the problem is a master boot record. What dio I do?

Use the "Erase" tab in Disk Utility. IIRC there should be an "Options" or "Advanced" button which should allow you to change the partitioning type. I'm not at my Mac now to confirm.
Erase at the device level not at the volume level.

I couldn't get "Options" or "Advanced" for some strange reason - am running El Capitain...but the following from Bob has solved the problem - Master Boot Record gone, can now Partition!
