Good afternoon billalr,

If you are adjusting ringtone settings, they will play even if your iPhone is on silent. So, if you need to change sound settings, you will need to do it with headphones on, or when you are in a location where others will not be disturbed.

How to put your iPhone on vibrate, ring, or silent mode

Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - check the settings to make sure no one can get through to you unless there is an emergency.

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - turn off notifications for apps you don't need. Adjust notification settings for apps you do need.

Turn off iPhone:

  1. Press and hold the Top (or Side) button until the slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.

You can also turn off your device by going to Settings > General > Shut Down

About the buttons and switches on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.
