I have iTunes on a laptop, running windows. I can see airplay is possible when playing music, but don't see any option to cast the sound via airplay to my sonos speakers, when watching movies? Is it even possible?

Go through the requirements here. See if your speakers and setup are compatible.
Not helpful. Sonos is by default airplay compatible, and as such also works with iTunes when I play music from it. However, when I load a movie, the airplay symbol vanishes. Casting sound through Airplay while watching movies should obviously , if it's not already added by some hidden setting, be added. If you are watching a movie from a laptop, your Sonos system is way better than the built in speakers.
