I can play content from my MacBook Air on Apple TV, but when I hook up the USB DVD drive, I get an error message that the screen is not compatible. Any ideas?

I can play content from my MacBook Air on Apply TV, i.e. stream a movie, but when I hook up the external DVD drive to the MacBook Air I get an error message that the screen is not supported. Any ideas what to do?

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.13

DVD's are blocked from airplay due to copyright. If you want to play DVD's on your TV then you will need to purchase a DVD player.
