MBP Thunderbolt 2 - USB3.1 external SSD connection?

Hi, I'm using a MBP 2014. It has two Thunderbolt 2 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports.

I'm going to buy an external SSD drive. I can connect it thru USB3.0 port and the speed will be 5Mbps.

But if only I can connect the SSD thru TB2, I guess it will be faster.

I googled in vain to find a TB2 male to USB3.1 female. Instead, I found I can physically connect the devices thru 'MBP' ~ 'TB2 male to TB2 male' ~ 'TB2 female to TB3 male' ~ 'TB3 male to USB 3.1 SSD'.

My question is, would the MBP get signals well? I'm afraid MBP TB2 would have trouble in receiving USB3.1 signals. I know recent MBP TB3 can receive USB 3.1 signals though.

Can anybody tried this? Thanks.
