Lightning to hdmi adaptor.

I want to buy a lightning to hdmi adaptor to connect my 10.5 ipad pro to my LG TV to watch films, tv etc using the VLC player. Will i get the option and be able to watch them fullscreen / widescreen making full use of the TV screen or am i restricted to just a larger mirror image of the ipad screen aspect ratio?

Yes, there are blank areas on the left and right sides, but that is expected because of the more “square” aspect ratio of these devices. To view the video on my smart TV, I purchased the Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter. It does a fine job of mirroring what is on the iPad/iPhone screen. But I am disappointed that it does not fill the 1920 x 1080 TV screen. There are blank areas on all 4 sides of the video image. If I use my laptop to display the movie using an HDMI cable and the laptop’s screen mirroring function, it fills the TV screen beautifully. Is there any way to display the 1920 x 1080 movie full screen using the Lightning to Digital AV Adapter? It seems like the mirroring of the iPad/iPhone screen (and its more square than 1920 x 1080 aspect ratio) is getting in the way of displaying this video optimally. Is there any way around this? I bought this Adapter so that I would not have to lug the laptop around to show this video on a bigger screen. Sure, the Lightning to Digital AV Adapter will play the video, but not without the annoying blank areas on all 4 sides. Thanks for any ideas on this.

Linking iPad to Large Screen TV I don't know if this is possible but I would like to play videos recorded on an iPad to a large screen TV. The iPad is an older model with only a lightning port so I imagine if this is going to be possible I would need a cable with a lightning connector at one end and what at the other end - HDMI or something else ? Would this be sufficient to start the video on the iPad but watch it on the TV ? Thanks to anyone who has a solution.

Connect iPad to TV, why video is not in full screen? I use a “lightning to hdmi” connector to connect iPad to TV to watch live TV on big screen. But why the video on Big screen TV is not full screen? Is there away to display the video in full screen?

It also outputs video content — movies, TV shows, captured video — to your big screen in up to 1080p HD. Simply attach the Lightning Digital AV Adapterto the Lightning connector on your device and then to your TV or projector via an HDMI cable (sold separately).
