Today I was surfing the net and my iPhone 4's screen went black and proceeded to vibrate nonstop. I was suggested to hold the Lock and home button to reset, but that did not work. I am now waiting for the battery to go dead. Has anyone else ran into this issue?
Sorry if this is a tad off topic but I have not had a problem with the phone vibrating but I have had multiple problems with the phone just locking up on me. The only way to get it to respond was to do a POWER RESET. I've already had the phone replaced once by Apple (thank you very much) and the problem persists but there's nothing repeatable. I finally just did a SOFTWARE RESET and removed all apps except music and my contacts. I'm monitoring it but so far it's been a day and no issues. I wonder if all of this is related somehow....
I agree but finding out which iTunes purchased application is the culprit is the hard part. I migrated my apps and music from a 1st Gen iPad Touch...everything worked flawlessly on the iPod...
My posting is not going to help but just wanted to add my comment on the forum that this vibrating issue just a happened to me for the first time today. Trying to reset it did not work and having to wait for the battery to die to see if it will power on.
I think I will keep the phone until mid September and then still take it back for a full refund due to the antenna issue and get an HTC Android phone instead.
There does seem to be an awful lot of problems with this phone. I had a 3G for over two years with no problems whatsoever. Apple's reputation is going to suffer big time if they don't sort out quality control issues not just with phones but also Macs
I've noticed now that after having gone through 3 hours of vibrating, something has come loose inside my phone. You can hear it if you give it a shake, and when it vibrates now, it sounds horribly tinny. I'm exchanging for a new phone today. Hoping the same issue won't repeat.
(And I tried to do a full re-set during the vibrathon too, but it didn't work.)
I just got my iphone about 4 or 5 hours ago now and I basically had enough time to sync it, take 1 picture and boom...... been vibrating ever since! I called apple and they told me to wait until the battery dies...... then plug it in and see if it works. I am really not impressed at the moment! This cannot be good for my phone vibrating like this..........
It took about 4 1/2 hours.... Then I just plugged it
Into the wall charger and it has been fantastic ever since,
Except, it is almost as though from all that vibrating, something has
become a tiny bit loose inside.... I am going to call apple after the long
weekend.
I am experiencing this problem at this very moment. I had not been actively using my phone for a few hours, when I decided to send a quick sms. I had typed maybe three words when the screen went black. I tried resetting it, but nothing happened. I noticed that if I toggled the vibrate switch then the phone would vibrate for a second or two as usual, and if I briefly held down the home and lock keys as though taking a screen shot, I could hear the little camera shutter sound effect.
When I got home I tried plugging it into my computer, but the phone didn't respond and the computer did not detect it. Then I tried plugging it into the wall with the included power adapter, and that was when it started vibrating continuously got very hot within only a few seconds. I unplugged the phone immediately have have been waiting for the battery die out, but the phone was pretty well charged when this started.
Even if everything appears to work find after letting the battery die down, I still want to exchange the phone. I am hoping I can even if the phone is not actively vibrating with a blank screen, because getting to the store is a total pain with my work schedule.
Same thing happened to me this morning. I was able to get it to stop by pressing and holding lock and home buttons simultaneously. Then it restarted and everything went back to normal. Very weird and troubling issue!!
That happened to me. All I did was a hard reboot (hoding the top button and the home button down for 10 seconds) and it rebooted and fixed the issue...
I too am waiting for my replacement phone, when I called
Apple, they said that they have never heard of the iPhone vibrating
like mine did, I find that hard to beleive as there are so many posts here.
