iPhone 4 won't stop vibrating

Today I was surfing the net and my iPhone 4's screen went black and proceeded to vibrate nonstop. I was suggested to hold the Lock and home button to reset, but that did not work. I am now waiting for the battery to go dead. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

This happened this past Tuesday morning and is doing it again. It took almost 3 hours before it died last time and it's been going for about an hour now. Very inconvenient. I had just hung up a call and pressed the sleep button. About 10 seconds after I did this, it started vibrating with the black screen. Not to mention since this happened a few days ago, vibrate has stopped working completely on my phone. This is getting ridiculous. I think I have a lemon =/

only got my iPhone4 for 3 days and it happened. i tried to turn it to silent mode in the cinema, and it vibrated non-stop (should just vibrate twice). in my case, the screen still responsive, and i am able to stop it by holding the sleep/power button to restart it. i am quite suprise that there are so man people here experience the same thing, i feel like to return my iphone4 and get a blackberry or htc instead. i think this will be the next big thing for apple...

I encountered this issue first time since I bought my iPhone in June 2010. The phone was on silent mode and a friend called me, I knew about the call since we were on IM too before this started. It happened at night so I left it vibrating so that it would drain the battery overnight and would get it running in the morning. But in the morning I realized that is it still vibrating, googled it and found this thread.

Hard rebooting using lock & home key worked in my case and the phone is working for me now.

Wanted to know if there is any fix available for this issue now?

Same happened to me. My girlfriend skypes me she's calling. Took my brand new iPhone 4 out of my bag and... surprise! Black screen, non-stop vibrating.
Hopefully, after googling a bit, found the HOME+POWER button combination and it made the phone reboot normally.

My iPhone is only 2 weeks old.

Any hint about this problem? Apple, any reaction?

Cheers

i had the same thing happen to a customer of mine
with a jailbroken i4 i removed the 2 screws on the bottom of the phone
slid off the back cover back cover and unscrewed the battery connector and disconnected the battery reconnected it and resembled the phone
and he hasn't had any problems sense.

if your handy with precision tools and you cant take it to apple
you can try this
but i take no responsibility for your actions.
hope this helps

i had this problem too...

i was going to sleep as suddenly i hear my iphone 4 (IOS4.1) vibrating... i usually put my phone in vibrate mode when go to sleep... it just vibrate non stop that i know my phone had already "bricked". My 1st pda phone usually bricked with black screen or freezed screen that i had to force to reset it(wm phone got 1 reset button behind). I tried restart my phone by pressing power button and home button together for about 5 second... the vibrating stop then the phone restart... everything went normal after restarting my phone...

i start checking the place where i put my phone earlier... it was between two speaker, 10cm from each speaker. those two speaker are build by myself out of car audio system... the magnet of the speaker doesn't have anti magnetic shield like which computer multimedia speaker system have so i assumed that there are week magnetic fields appears on the spot... i test it by using the compass application. the phone shows compass interference every time i put my phone on the spot... i tried with my another phone, htc leo... it's digital compass also shows magnetic interference on the spot...

after this "experiment" what comes to my mind is maybe the sensors inside iphone4 was too sensitive that if expose to some kind of megnetic field (i dont dare to try with electromagnet... hehe...)too long then the phone will bricked...
is this the truth??? idon't know...

mayb someone can try to continue my experiment... try expose ur iphone to all kind of magnetic field... (except earth magnetic field... -_-|||)for a long time... post ur result here... don't blame me if ur phone bricked forever... hehe...

Guys Guys Guys !!!
Dont Worry with the Hang Problem
"IPhone Hanged with Black Screen, Touch not Working and device Vibrating only Nothing is working"

Solution:

Hold Home Button + Power Button as long as the device restarts.

and thats it.

Usually it happens in Jailbroken IPhones due to 3G services, Specially it happens on VOIP Incomming Calls.

I have exactly the same problem yesterday, I was charging the phone via my notebook and connected to iTune but I was not doing anything on the MISS iPhone4 nor the notebook. Suddenly it just vibrate non-stop. I called the support in Malaysia and I was told to shut down the phone but there was no respond. I brought the vibrating phone to the service provider(MAXIS) and they said they will send the phone to Singapore for a replacement within 14 days!!!! SIGH... I need to live without a phone for 14 days?? User uploaded file

What can Apple do on this??? I am located in Malaysia. Is there any Apple office in Malaysia which can solve this problem immediately? Why not the service provider replace the phone immediately User uploaded file???

I started to lost confident to Apple after using iPhone4 for 5 months. I have been using other brands in the past 15 years and never had an experience or the need to claim a phone!!
