iPad missing comma and period

Keyboard problem seems to have come back again.

iOS 12.1.4

iPad Air 2

Portrait mode: no comma or period regardless of selection of SHFT or .?123 keys; however, knowing that "!" comma and "?" is the period, one can still type with proper punctuation -- and to make it even more confusing, must use SHFT to type the "!" or "?" symbols .

Landscape mode: comma and period properly show themselves on the keyboard at all times regardless of selection of SHFT or .?123 keys.

I discovered enabling “keyflicks” in keyboard settings (general-keyboard) allows you to see the comma, etc. in portrait view. Annoying, but a workaround until this gets fixed.

I am experiencing the same thing as you. I would have never noticed this because I almost never use my iPad Air 2 running iOS 12.1.4 in Portrait mode. I NEVER use Portrait mode when I want to type. That is too unwieldy for me that way.

I am using the U.S. English QWERTY keyboard. Can I assume you are as well? The AZERTY keyboard shows the comma and period keys in Portrait mode.
