This issue is regularly observed and reported within this user community, affecting all variants of iPad Pro. At present, Apple have neither acknowledged nor offered any comment on this issue.

At present, despite many theories as to the cause - and frequent postulation as to possible fixes - there are no definitive solutions for this problem. Some contributors have recently reported resolution with installation of iOS 12.2, only to subsequently retract their positive reports of a potential fix.

At this time, we await official acknowledgement and a fix. The best advice that we can currently offer is that you should report the issue via Apple Feedback channel (https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html) and raise a case with Apple using the Contact Support link at top right of this page.

I’m positive it’s a software problem. I’ve had my iPad Pro for several years. When it was new, it had iOS 10 on it. It worked perfectly. Absolutely no problems! Then came iOS 11 and low & behold........SCREEN FREEZING PROBLEMS. I went online and found many people were having the same problem. Tried all the fixes INCLUDING spending a ridiculous amount of time on the phone with Apple tech support. After doing everything tech support suggested with no improvement, they then tried to convince me to take it to an Apple store because my “iPad might have a hardware problem”. While mulling over whether to take it in, I downloaded an app called iDoctor Device. This app shows details about what’s going on with RAM memory plus it also enables you to “Refresh” the RAM memory. Of course......cleaning the RAM memory gets rid of the freeze problem!! Unfortunately, it’s not a permanent fix. After using the iPad for a while, the freezing problem returns. ALSO......along comes iOS 11.5 and.......the freeze problem vanishes! Expecting that Apple had solved the problem with iOS 11.5, when iOS 12 came along, I installed it. BIG MISTAKE!! Screen freeze is back and atleast for me, it’s worse than it’s ever been. EVERYBODY needs to start SCREAMING at Apple tech support t get this fixed!!

I had this problem and it got to the point where it would freeze roughly every minute. I tried everything suggested on forums and even tried apple support, but nothing worked. Now for the good news... I updated to iOS 12.2 this morning and my screen hasn’t frozen at all since 😃. Obviously it was a software issue and it has now been fixed.... at last!!

Thanks for the info. Don't want to ruin the celebration......but I had the same experience. I downloaded 12.2 and the freeze problem went away......for a while. Now it's back and what's more frustrating is that at times it's worse than it ever was. There does not seem to be any pattern to the problem. It's not like I open an app and the freeze problem appears. I've got all of the background app refresh turned off. Auto updates turned off. I would be curious to hear whether you experience the return of the screen freeze problem as well.

After updating 12.2 hour later my Ipad pro screen went blank.

I tried tech support they couldn't help.

Finally they suggested to go to bestbuy where I bought from they have a apple lab there too.

I took a day off went to bestbuy.

Geek squad very much mistreated me.

Showed cold shoulder since I did not have their apple care subscription.

Finally went to apple store downtown.

After apple employees numerous tries ipad did not powered up.

They said they will provide me replacement in 5 to 7 days.keeping fingers crossed.

Let's see how it works. I was Dell customer for 25 year for my business needs, I said let me try apple since they have some nice products I can use for more productivity in business.

I think new updates has some issues which is causing freez.
