After visiting the Genius Bar and having my iPad totally reset, I can no longer just click on the mail icon and get my e-mails. I have to use the Gmail app which I do not like. I have duplicated the settings exactly as they are on my iPhone (where I am able to do this) but it still does not work.
please help.

What settings did you duplicate exactly?
Does your Gmail account appear in Settings->Passwords & Accounts?
Is the switch for Mail turned on there for it?
Gmail is a preset type for the mail App, and all you need to set is your address and password in Settings->Passwords & Accounts->Add Account->Google, then follow the onscreen prompts. There are no other settings to set.
