Spectrum App freezes

My Spectrum App on the Apple TV freezes up and rewinds constantly. Spectrum says this is an Apple issue. I have tried to delete and reload the App but cannot delete it??

Particularly since Spectrum TV 1.3.1 was released recently, I have been having similar problems with rebuffering, audio, video, or both rewinding back in time or freezing, and video quality deteriorating temporarily as if bandwidth was insufficient to stream the content at full resolution. However, Speedtest running on our 4th generation Apple TV always exceeds 200 mbps between Spectrum's local servers and our Apple TV. The release of Spectrum TV 1.4 seems to have helped a bit, but it is worse than the Spectrum TV versions prior to 1.3.1. The Spectrum TV apps on our iPads and iPhones or streaming on Spectrum TV's Website don't suffer these problems.


I'm pretty certain that this is a Spectrum TV, not an Apple TV or tvOS problem. The local Spectrum customer service agents take my report but I don't feel that I'm talking to the right people. Does anyone have a suggestion whom to contact within Spectrum? I recently switched from YouTube TV which did not have these problems but cost ~25% more than Spectrum TV. I prefer to avoid all Google companies, if possible.

Thanks for the reply. It is up to date and when I press and hold the trackpad to get the icon to jiggle, I do get the delete option but when I select it I get the confirmation for the delete. When I confirm to delete nothing happens and the icon remains. I cannot delete in order to reload the App.


I agree that this is a Spectrum issue but they are vey quick to walk away and point to Apple.

Make sure it’s up to date (the latest version of TVOS is 12.1.2)


Try force quitting the app (double tap home button on remote to bring up the app switcher, swipe up to close)

To delete the app you would press and hold on the trackpad on the remote until the icon jiggles, then you would press the play button to bring up the options and select delete. You would then go tp the App Store to reload


It wouldn’t be an Apple issue, as Spectrum is the one who developed the app. The above can work for temporary glitches, but if it persists then it’s something the developer needs to fix the issue on their end.
