Macbook air will not download apps

Hello,

I recently purchased a preowned macbook air mid 2012, it has been wiped clean and completely restarted but I have since download MacOS mojave back and the mac itself is in working condition. Although, when I go to my app store to download any app owned or not owned it will show the cloud with arrow download symbol, when thats clicked it will spin and then reappear and never actually download the items. I've read a bunch of forums on the topic and tried quite a few things like clearing my account off the laptop, checking for updates etc and nothing has worked..

Thank you so much for your time,

Jenna

Activation Lock

If you purchased, were given, or found a device second-hand, then it is useless without the Apple ID and password to which it is locked. If you don't have it, can't remember it or cannot get it, then the device is useless to you. If you are the original owner then take the device, a copy of your purchase receipt and identity proof to an Apple retailer where they may be able to assist you. This is also true for devices of deceased persons. You will need a certified copy of the death certificate, proof that you are the heir, proof of ID, and proof that the deceased was the legal owner. Note that getting around the Find My Phone activation lock may not be possible.

Contact the seller to find out if they disabled the Find My Mac activation lock. If not then you are trying to download items that are tied to the seller's Apple ID.

Please clarify if this is not the problem.
