Installed iCloud on win 10 but it doesn't run

I installed the latest iCloud on Win 10 Pro v.1803. It installs correctly and asks for appleid sign-in. As soon as sign-in completes the app quits. At that point I can't get the iCloud desktop app (or any of the apps in the iCloud folder) to operate.

I have completely removed all apple software from the machine, rebooted, removed Office 365, rebooted, re-installed iCloud (without office 365 on the machine) and same result. Also removing Apple reinstalling Office 365 and reinstalling iCloud does not work.

When I click on the iCloud app to start it the task manager show an iCloud.exe 32 bit process starting. It runs for around 60 seconds without showing any windows and then quits.

Any suggestions on how to get this functioning would be welcome.

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Jay!

I understand you're trying to use iCloud for Windows, however, you've noticed that it does not respond and crashes. I see you've also tried some great troubleshooting steps, but this remains unresolved. I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot.

Use the following steps to troubleshoot this issue: Get help using iCloud for Windows

If the issue persists, try running iCloud for Windows in safe mode and see if it responds correctly: Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10
