iCloud Drive needs to finish updating ... WELL HOW MANY DAYS DOES THAT TAKE ?!

See Attachments. I need to not use iCloud right now because I need my large video files on my computer so I can work with them ... without waiting for them to download.

I've had this "iCloud Drive needs to finish updating before continuing with sign out" message for like 24 hours! But I see Terminal is showing no activity!

I had done a Clean Install, with my new iMac ... because of weird issues with the track pad ... spurious inputs. Apple is exchanging the track pad. AND the Cancel/Open option at the bottom of windows was not available. I could not see it with resizing the window, I had to change the screen resolution! Now I have that back, but the Resizing option in the lower right corner of windows, when I have a window full of photos, is gone? I did the Clean Install, erased my built-in Fusion drive, and was selectively adding items back via Time Machine. But I guess iCloud basically repopulated my iMac?

Malwarebytes says I'm clean. I've been using Macs since the SC, in 1987! I've never had any problems?!

Let the documents be downloaded in home folder ( in your case the documents have larger data ) and it can take time to finish and let the bar be loaded .

Click on finder > Go > home > your user name > iCloud Drive ( archive ) the documents will get synced after hours .

If you click on cancel it will stop and documents will not be archived , in your screen shot it is for activity monitor and not terminal .

To stop a process select the process and click on cross sign see this article https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/activity-monitor/quit-a-process-actmntr1002/mac

To quit which process open activity monitor and in its spotlight search type iCloud and quit the first process .

Before applying it please consult apple support senior advisor see this link https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201232

I'm a photographer and videographer. I need my files on my computer. I can't be waiting for them to constantly download from iCloud. For my current video project I have over 150 gigs of files. I DID have those files on my internal HD, as opposed to the Desktop ... so that they wouldn't upload to iCloud, and were readily available for Final Cut Pro X. But after I erased my HD to do the clean install of the OS, for the first time ever ... my internal HD didn't even show up on my desktop? I imagine because "everything" was now iCloud? I had No Place to keep those video files locally ... thus turn the darn iCloud off.

Or ... what should I do?

The internal HD IS now appearing on my desktop.

Thanks ...
