My iphone X is stuck in DFU mode - help!

I restarted my 11 month old iPhone X last Friday and after the apple logo appeared the screen went blank. A few hours later i tried to force restart it by pressing volume up then down then holding the right hand button (tried many various durations) but i never saw any activity on the screen since the apple label appeared when i initially gracefully restarted it.

i assumed the phone was dead, but when i plugged it into my macbook pro and opened itunes it recognised the phone was in recovery mode (my understanding is that recovery mode is when it has the itunes icon but DFU mode is the black screen which is what i have also system information-> USB states apple device (DFU Mode)) and offered to restore it, which failed continuously, i've tried with iPhone10,3,iPhone10,6_12.1.4_16D57_Restore.ipsw & iPhone10,3,iPhone10,6_12.1.3_16D39_Restore.ipsw

I'm currently on holiday in a location that does not have an apple store.

Is there anyway to get the phone out of DFU mode without visiting an apple store?

Will this be covered under warranty? i do not have applecare.

Erase all of the previous version of the ipsw files that you have on your computer, connect to your computer again and follow the instructions to set it up as a new device. You will not get any display on the iPhone. If it doesn't complete the process you can make a Genius Bar appointment at an Apple Store and they can help with this. If it is a hardware failure they will explain your options. No, there is no way to unmark.

thanks for your rude response and auto marking this as solved.

its a shame and arrogant for you to decid to mark this as solved without bothering to check first.

as i wrote originally, iTunes fails to restore my iPhone, of course i tried repeatedly with the version that iTunes downloads, iTunes has a facility to permit using a different signed version of ios, typically the immediate previous version, which is what i also tried.

As i also mentioned i'm on holiday and have no local access to an apple store which is why i'm looking for advice here. Its a shame there is no way to mark unhelpful posts here :(.

  1. Only one person can mark a post as solving their problem that would be the Original Poster (OP) in this case you.
  2. I've reread my responses to you and I can't find anywhere that I was rude to you.
  3. Yes, I saw that which is why I suggested the you completely remove the detritus from all previous attempts and then try one last time. Apple only keeps a signed version of the previous version (in this case 12.1.3) for 5 - 7 days. That has long since passed and the only available signed version for your iPhone.
  4. Yes, i saw you are on holiday, I was referring to your earlier comment about coverage and, all other means having failed, you would have to wait to get it fixed
  5. If you had read the terms of use you agreed to when you joined here you would know that this is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple. Apple Techs are not here. You could click on the Contact Support link at the top right of this page to see if their techs have something else to suggest.
  6. I do see that someone has been rude in this thread so I'll stop now. Good luck to you, perhaps someone else her will put up with your rudeness and provide further assistance.
