My iphone X is stuck in DFU mode, iTunes fails to restore,

I restarted my 11 month old iPhone X last Friday and after the apple logo appeared the screen went blank. A few hours later i tried to force restart it by pressing volume up then down then holding the right hand button (tried many various durations) but i never saw any activity on the screen since the apple label appeared when i initially gracefully restarted it.

i assumed the phone was dead, but when i plugged it into my macbook pro and opened itunes it recognised the phone was in recovery mode (my understanding is that recovery mode is when it has the itunes icon but DFU mode is the black screen which is what i have also system information-> USB states apple device (DFU Mode)) and offered to restore it, which failed continuously, i've tried with the current version of ios that itunes downloads which is iPhone10,3,iPhone10,6_12.1.4_16D57_Restore.ipsw & also the previous version which is iPhone10,3,iPhone10,6_12.1.3_16D39_Restore.ipsw

I'm currently on holiday in a location that does not have an apple store.

Is there anyway to get the phone out of DFU mode without visiting an apple store?

Will this be covered under warranty? i do not have applecare.

iPhone X, iOS 12
