Tracking activity with apple watch on pocket

I`m not allowed to wear jewelry or watches on the wrist during working time. If I leave the apple watch on my pocket does it track my activities? Of course the heart rate will not be measured, but MOVE- EXERCISE- STAND rings are moving on?

does wrist detection turn off activity tracking? I have found a problem where my phone doesnt get a notification sound, but my watch does. I later found out that when i turn off wrist detection on my watch, it somehow works for both devices. But i have been wondering, if I keep off wrist detection on my apple watch, does it still track my activity? Like, does it still fill my rings if I have wrist detection off?

No, your watch must be on your wrist to function.
