“Set Automatically” is locked in Date and Time settings

I’m trying to change the date and time in the settings but “Set Automatically” is greyed out. I can’t change the time zone either. Why is this?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 12

Hi ajan15,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I see from your post that you're not able to change the date and time settings of your iPhone.

As noted in the article, Get help with the date and time on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch:

  1. The option to turn on Set Automatically might not be available with all carriers or in all countries and regions.
  2. If the time on your iOS device is wrong after you sync it with your computer, your computer's time might be wrong. Check the time on your computer in System Preferences > Date & Time. You might want to select "Set date and time automatically."
  3. Manual adjustments to time settings to change app behavior (like game timers) isn't recommended.

I hope this information helps.

Kindest Regards.
