my 4k apple tv keeps freezing and i have to restart several times per day. I use a dsl cable and not WiFi. It seems to be the same issue many others complained about. My service is through my cable TV provider and they confirmed there is nothing wrong with my service or equipment.

  • Force-quit the app that misbehaves, then launch it again. (Double-tap TV/Home to go the the App Switcher, then swipe up to close the selected app.)
  • Force-quit the app that misbehaves, delete it, download it again, then launch it again.
  • Force-quit all open apps, then restart. Only restarting the device doesn’t necessarily close the active apps (just like on your smartphone).
  • If all else fails, then reset the device to factory settings.

Force quit and relaunch will restart the app but not cure the freezing problem.


deleting the app and reloading does not cure the freezing problem.


Force quitting all apps apps has become my modus operandi. I do this when ever I switch apps. It helps insure the next app will not freeze but only slightly.


Resetting the the device to factory settings helps for a couple of days but the problem quickly returns.


So far, the solutions provided are more of a burden than a cure.
