My iPhone photos do not appear on iMac photo?

I am trying to transfer photos from my iPhone to my iMac. I am in Photos but no photos from my iPhone appear? I am connected via USB. I have clicked on my device in Photos and nothing happens?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 12
