CarPlay connection

My wife has a new 2018 Honda with CarPlay. It works fine for three or four weeks and then stops working. After much diagnostic, it seems to be the cable. After we replace the USB connection cable (always using an Apple store cable) it works fine for another three or four weeks and then stops again until the cable is replaced with a new one.

Today we discovered that when we went to use the discarded three or four week old cables in our home to charge phones etc., they no longer work!! So, something is causing the cables to go bad in a short period of time and then cease to be usable all together!

Any ideas? Would it even be possible to "Burn out" a cable? What would cause the USB connecting cable to go bad so often?

You could be correct. There are some suspicious marks on the end of the cable. It may be the car output or perhaps it is shorting out on something metal in the glovebox. I am closely watching the present new cable. If its shorting, we could just unplug it from the USB with the phone. If not, it could be a warranty issue.
