How to disable automatic enter after password in safari?

When I use Touch ID to automatically enter a login ID and password, Safari now automatically "presses Enter" upon entry. This creates a problem when the site requires some other info, such as a Captcha, to be entered before pressing "Submit" or "Login".

How do I turn off this automatic "Enter"/"Submit" press while still allowing Safari/Keychain Access to provide the required login ID and password?

I'm using Safari Version 12.1 (14607.1.40.1.3) on a MacBook Pro with MacOS Mojave.

Yes, that's the same issue. Regardless of your being on High Sierra, Geminidreams, as Dominic23 noted above it must be related to a new version of Safari (which must've been updated on High Sierra as well, apparently).

Here's the Safari Feedback link: https://www.apple.com/feedback/safari.html

We need to report this as a serious issue. Perhaps they can give us something like the choice in iPad to 'Paste' or 'Paste & Go'... Either way, it's a serious issue that needs to be fixed.

This is a new feature.

I would wait until more information is available.

  • Safari

  • Adds Dark Mode support for websites that support custom color schemes.

  • Streamlines website login when filling credentials with Password AutoFill

  • Allows push notification prompts only after interacting with a website.

  • Adds a warning when an insecure webpage is loaded.

    • Removes support for the expired Do Not Track standard to prevent potential use as a fingerprinting variable; Intelligent Tracking Prevention now protects against cross-site tracking by default.

I meant to elaborate more on the login problem I'm having.

When signing into Wordpress, I select my username and password from the autofill drop down, then click 'login'. The page then refreshes and asks me to refill the username and password, but after the password to add a space, the letters 'wf' (Wordfence) and a code from an authenticator app on my phone. But because Safari is immediately submitting my entry, the page keeps refreshing and asking for the code, only I'm not able to enter the code, a vicious cycle.

Sure, I can, and I will go over to Firefox, but I would prefer to stay with Safari as all my bookmarks and passwords are saved in Safari. I only really use FF for testing while developing my site, I often clear its entire cache/cookies.

I would at least like the option to choose autoenter over and above autofill. I can turn autofill off, but I would then have to manually go into Keychain to retrieve usernames and passwords.

This seems like a major oversight, Safari has just been made almost unusable overnight.
