Family sharing of my 2 TB iCloud storage

I have family sharing activated for Apple Music and app purchases. I am now pondering to activate sharing of my 2 TB iCloud storage, of which 1.8 TB is free (I use iCloud Photo).

Will this be a wise move? Let’s assume that I want to kick people off the family sharing - will I be able to do that? And what would happen to their data in iCloud? Can I sanitize their data in iCloud, if they suddenly start to push tons of data into iCloud?

Thx Léonie.

I called Apple Support and was told that:

  • I can't delete files from other Apple IDs.
  • I can kick people off the shared iCloud storage. They then have a 30 day period to buy storage before their data is erased.

So, all is well and I'm activating the iCloud storage sharing now.

Share your cloud storage only, if you can trust the family members not to waste cloud storage. The support document for family sharing (Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support) does not tell us anything about the the consequences of shared cloud storage. The link Share an iCloud storage plan  is simply pointing to "Buy more storage", but that will not help, if we already are using the 2TB plan.
