I received an email from the following: “sourcegoenjishuya.live.outlook-1p7a33xg5s.submail@foundnetworktrusmark710.com”

The subject line in the email that I received read as follows: “Please change your account information, because someone has used your account to make suspicious payments”

The email read: “We have updated the security agreement Friday, March 22, 2019.

And it looks like your account does not meet the requirements listed in the latest

security agreement. Please read the security agreement in the attached message (.pdf)

And we want you to complete the requested data as soon as possible, if we do not

receive data from

your account, your account will be closed 7 days after this email received”

The PDF says, “You must unlock your Account with one click and follow the steps that have been provided for you.

For now Apple ID has been locked for security reasons, immediately verify your account, if you do not verify your account, your account will be closed 7 days after this email is received.”

Can anyone tell me whether this sounds legitimate, especially based on who the email was from? Thank you.

Apple will always address you by your name or the name they have on file for you, not Dear Customer, Dear Client or by using your e-mail address.  The e-mail will be from @apple.com or @iTunes.com. E-mail addresses can be spoofed. You can go to Mail/View/Message/Show all Headers to see more. Apple e-mails will never contain an attachment. Apple will never request personal information such as Social Security numbers.

The only exception to the above I have noticed is if you order something from the Apple Store (apple.com), your receipt will be addressed to Dear Apple Customer. That is a receipt for a purchase you initiated.
