My Weather Widget Went Caput!
My weather widgets have not worked since Thursday. 3-21-19. I have tried to reinstall them, tried to find new ones, can't get anything. Anyone know what's going on? I am on Yosemite 10.10.5

The problem you are describing has appeared previously:
Although in the past, they have resumed functionality, they are currently not working.
Hey bynah,
Just a quick follow-up on the Dashboard weather widget's sudden disruption of service. Last week it started working again by itself. I have not done anything at all -- all my attempts to restore the service did not work.
I guess that there was some kind of update on Yohoo's end, as Viking OSX mentions above, and any breaks have been finally fixed. Either way, I hope that the widget is working on your computer. Let us know if this is the case!
I've had this problem when the weather app can no longer scrape data from a weather service web site because the web site changed their web page.
I am currently using the WeatherBug menu bar weather display. It has been stable for along time, maybe because WeatherBug is also a weather service provider.

I also use WeatherBug iPhone Widgit.

I also have this problem (again) since March 21, 2019. I thought it had something to do with messing up with the computer settings when trying to use a projector during a presentation. But now, reading your post, it may be a more general issue.
That being said, I had this same problem in the past. A few months later, it started working again. For the past few days, I have been trying some of the fixes proposed in some of the Apple Community forum discussions to no avail.
Any suggestions out there anyone or is this the end of the Weather Widget for Yosemite users?
What's really interesting is that my husband has El Capitan and it still works on his dashboard! I have been trying to download the other widgets for weather to no avail. The link for fair weather does not go to anything and none of them do!
Don't know what is going on.
The whole Dashboard widget universe is imploding, but the issue with the weather widget is that it is primarily based on JavaScript looking for specific areas of the Yahoo! weather site. If Yahoo chooses to change anything, then the widget breaks, and I have no idea if Apple is even supporting this very complicated widget any longer.
The weather widget will sporadically work or not work here. You might be better served using the weather tool in the Today notifications panel. At least, Apple is supporting that. System Preferences : Extensions : Today : √ Weather. Then click the Notifications hamburger icon in the top right of the menu bar, and add your local weather location.
Another approach is to add a weather link to the favorites bar of your browser, where you are one-click from checking the local weather. The Dark Sky site is a nice summary destination.
thank you so much for responding. It did solve it. I do have another question for you though. I used duck duck go for my default search engine but my computer always switches it to Yahoo. driving me crazy!
You're welcome! I am glad that it is working again for you too. It is a minor thing that does not affect functionality really, but I find the Dashboard weather widget useful and visually appealing.
Regarding your query, I have never used Duck Duck Go in all fairness, so I am afraid that I cannot be of any help here. I use Ecosia though, which is an environmentally friendly organization that invests profits into reforestation projects around the world (i.e. every 45 searches contribute to plant a tree). It seems pretty stable and Safari does not switch it to other search engines unsolicitedly.

You have adware/malware installed. Use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After scanning a couple of times, restart the computer and test. If necessary, follow the manual instructions. Do not download any other programs. Malwarebytes uninstall
See if the below helps. I would scroll down to the below or you might fall asleep.
Step 1. Eliminate Yahoo Redirect from Windows
Step 2. Delete Yahoo Redirect from Mac OS X
Step 3. Uninstall Yahoo Redirect from Internet Explorer
Step 4. Remove Yahoo Redirect from Microsoft Edge
Step 5. Erase Yahoo Redirect from Mozilla Firefox
Step 6. Get rid of Yahoo Redirect from Google Chrome
Step 7. Eliminate Yahoo Redirect from Safari
Use Notifications on your Mac - Apple Support provides another option for weather. I haven't used Yosemite Notifications for awhile, but Weather works well on Mojave.
any hope in sight? is there an alternative I can use?
