Airport extreme help

I would like to be able to de-activate (turn off) my wifi from work so that my kids do not have access to it while I am away.


Is there a way to access my airport extreme router and turn it 'off'?

It's important that when you include devices that shouldn't have access, that you don't forget to exclude devices that you do want access.

Instead of remotely accessing it have you considered enabling timed access? With this feature you can basically disable wireless access for certain periods of time.

If remote access is still what you prefer, what will you be using to access the base station from work with ... a Mac or PC? Apple used to make this easy from a Mac device with Back to My Mac (BtMM), but they disabled this feature with macOS Mojave ... and, in that case, you would need to rely on either port mapping or using a VPN to access it from a remote location.
