Lost 4k resolution for external monitor after 10.14.4 upgrade.

I have a Seiki 39 SE-UY04 connected to my Mac pro (late 2013 model) and it has been working great until the update today. Now I only see low resolution selections for this monitor and no longer have 3840x2160. Any ideas?

As far as I can tell this is an early 4K TV and it might only support HDMI 1.4a. As such it would support 1080p at normal refresh rates, i.e. 24p, 50p, and 60p but only support 4K at 30p at best.

It sounds like Apple may have decided that 30p is inadequate and chosen not to list it as a choice anymore. It is sometimes possible to view hidden resolutions by holding down the option key in System Preferences -> Displays and then being able to access additional options.

Personally I regard any 4K display with only a HDMI 1.4 interface instead of a HDMI 2.0 interface as being a 'fake' 4K display.

Whilst so far I have not found definitive technical specs for this TV listing which HDMI version it supports I do know some TVs which like this have multiple HDMI ports (it has three) might only support HDMI 2.0 on one and HDMI 1.4 on the others, so check this or try the others.

I did find this - https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/asin/B00DOPGO2G which seems to confirm it only does HDMI 1.4a and not HDMI 2.0 (and not Displayport).

Consider buying a high-quality adapter from Mini DisplayPort (ThunderBolt subset) to HDMI 2.
Appropriate adapters will also advertise they are "4K" capable. High-speed HDMI-2 cable will also be required.

If - as seems to be the case with this display it itself only supports HDMI 1.4a then no matter how good a Mini Displayport to HDMI 2.0 adapter and HDMI 2.0 cable you use it will still only support HDMI 1.4a.

Thanks for the reply, yes it is an early 4k tv and at the time I purchased it I think the price was around $319. At that time this was the best bang for my buck in wanting something more than a 1080p monitor. I bought this in 2015 with the sole purpose of using it as my main monitor for my mac pro. It has worked perfectly for my application up until the latest update. While I will admit that 30hz is not the best for watching video it has been just fine for my needs (programming).
