Before the newest Apple TV remote iOS app update, the side buttons on my iPhone X would adjust the Apple TV volume. Since the new update v2.2, it’s not working. Is anyone else having this issue?

“Receivers with HDMI-CEC volume support let you adjust volume with the volume buttons on the side of your iOS device. You just need to plug your Apple TV directly into your receiver and not into your television.”
Control your TV or receiver with your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote - Apple Support there could be a setting on your TV preventing this. Go to this link and see if that helps. Also, another troubleshooting step is to restart the Apple TV.
I use two HomePod speakers to Airplay with the Apple TV and not a receiver. The Apple TV remote used to turn up the volume of the Homepods before the update. I guess Apple deleted this feature. I don’t want to close the Apple TV remove app just to open another app to change volume.
Same problem; Bluetooth speaker connected to Apple TV 4K, before the update the app on my phone controlled the volume on the speaker just like actual remote does, now it doesn’t. The actual remote still controls the volume on the speaker.
