Contacts stopped syncing from icloud to Mac

My contacts on my iPhone are syncing with icloud but my iMac is not. But it has in the past and I just noticed that it stopped working after I added a contact on my iphone and then I went to look it up on my imac. I checked iCloud and I can see my updates to contacts on my iPhone but not on my iMac. I added a contact on my iMac but it didn't come over on iCloud and iPhone.

I checked my calendar, reminders, email etc and they are all synced just fine between all my devices.

Does anyone have a solution to this. I already went to settings->icloud on my imac and unchecked the contacts and waited a few minutes and then checked it again. This did not work.
