iPhone 8 connectivity issues

I lost my iPhone 7 last week.

Yesterday, I purchased a new iPhone 8 to replace it.

I can not purchase apps or make phone calls on the 8.

I can send and receive texts from my son, who is on the same Verizon plan, he has an iPhone 7.

My wife who has a Pixel can not receive my texts.

Can not make or receive phone calls.

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 12

What happens when you attempt to purchase an app? Are you logged into the App Store?


Sounds like iMessage is activated, and you are connected to wi-fi.


Check with your carrier to ensure your phone account has been provisioned correctly for the new phone and has service on it, as well as a texting plan. The fact that you cannot make calls, nor text, which is also a carrier function leads to me to believe you need to speak to the carrier to ensure the device is activated correctly and the account provisioned correctly.
