Virus Pop-Ups on Iphones; I can't hit cancel or do anything to turn it off completely, any advice?

So a pop up appeared telling me to call apple security. When I hit cancel it usually doesn't allow me to do anything when I'm on safari, so I double tap the home button and turn off the app and open it again. I do my best to quickly get rid of the tab where I get the message from, but this time I hit the home button when the pop up emerge, and now I can't do anything other than mess with the buttons.

I can't even hit cancel or call... any solutions?

I thought about fully turning off my phone, but since I can't really do anything to the screen I'm stuck.

Other than draining my phones batteries I don't know what else to do, and that's gonna take a while...

Fixing Safari from Popups

[The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.]

Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari

Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phoney message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also, understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.

Quit Safari

Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + ESC, select Safari, and press Force Quit.

Relaunch Safari

If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.

This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious web page, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

iDevice Safari Phishing Adware Popups

  1. Your device does not have a virus. You can fix this as follows:
  2. Kill Safari by double-tapping on the Home button. Locate Safari in the task bar, then slide the Safari mini-page upwards so it vanishes.
  3. Tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. Next, locate Security section and slide the “Block Pop-Ups” switch to the On position.
  4. Press the Home button to return to your Home screen.

If this doesn’t help, then reset your device. It won't delete your data. Press and hold down the On/Off button and the Home button until the display turns off and returns with the Apple logo showing.

Alternatively, follow these instructions to reset your device: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

As helpful as this is I'm sadly having this problem on my old iPhone 6. The pop up sticks, but it won't allow me to interact with anything on my screen other than the option to cancel or call the number. I pushed cancel, but it does nothing. Heck I even push call in hopes I'd just end the call immediately after but even still nothing happened. Now I'm waiting for my phone's battery to die out since that's my only other option.

Is there a way to remove all the tabs in Safari without going to the actual browser itself? The pop only appears when the tab is fully loaded. I only got it because of the screen automatically expanding upon watching a video as Safari switched tabs to "Apple Security"

Are you unable to perform these steps from above?
