Hi RE,
You've posted your Pages for iOS question in the Pages for Mac community. Different application, with different steps to accomplish similar goals. But also a learning opportunity, as the iPad is close by and not in use.
Tap the three dots at the top right of the screen and choose Document Setup from the menu that appears.
Tap the page with borders icon that replaces the three dots to open the Inspector, and choose the Document Inspector.
At the bottom of the pane are three switches: Headers, Footers, and Facing Pages.
Decide where you want the page numbers displayed, and turn on the appropriate switch(es).
I turned on Footers, as I wanted the Page numbers to appear at the center of the bottom of each page.
Tap in the Footer box to make it active. A "Page Number" flag should appear.
Tap Page Number to open a list of styles in which Page numbers may be presented.
If the number is where you want it, your done.
If you want the number in the centre of the footer box, tap the alignment control icon (five horizontal lines) below the bottom right corner of the page image, then choose the alignment you want.
When dome, tap Done (upper left corner of screen) to exit the Inspector and return to your document.
Regards,
Barry
Thanks for the opportunity to learn this.
I've requested your question be transferred to the iWork for iOS community, where the topics are Pages, Numbers and Keynote for iOS.
