Disable 10.14.4 Safari auto-submit of login forms

I think you/we have to accept the facts, there’s a current problem with entering passwords for certain sites, all the moaning and finger pointing will not alter that. The original post was what can be done to avoid having this issue lock the sites, I’ve given my thoughts and a possible work around, may be you can offer an alternative, if not it’s not worth continuing this discussion.

I do agree with Whiteatom, this new feature is really annoying! An option to activate or deactivate it should be available.

By now, I do no have any other options than get back to Google Chrome until Apple do something... :/

That advice was really directed at trogalewski, the more people that send requests via Feedback to include a function or resolve an issue the more likely it will get noticed by Apple, there is certainly no guarantee they will see it in the forum.

With respect to useful response, you can only post on what’s possible under the circumstances, if no off button exists at the moment for this issue then work arounds are the only current alternative, no matter how much that is disliked by some.

OMG. C'mon Apple. I have an office full of people that are hosed this morning after the update yesterday. Please create advanced option to disable submit immediately. Multiple failed logins appear as hacks and get IP addresses blacklisted. This is terrible. Turning off autofill altogether is terrible as well. So we move to Chrome or Firefox until you get it together? Grrrr. Thanks for deciding what i am doing all day today. I swear I am going to go back to turning updates off and doing them six months later again.

Best part of this feature is that it fails on apples discussion login.

Apple really does need to provide options for the disabling of these features that add. I do not care to save a fraction of as second on some websites to waste minutes on websites that it fails on. Or when the feature causes me to get locked out of websites.

Please provide feedback to apple at apple feedback I am tired of this nonsense and I bet if your reading this you are too.

And if the website is a government site, you are truly hosed because now you need to call them to have your account reset and get a black mark on your record. What were they thinking? No one noticed this in a beta?

I had to delete several Userid/PW combos from Keychain and need to enter them manually now.

This is the dumbest feature I can imagine! It is really ANNOYING.

It is also extremely DANGEROUS with phishing sites and this feature will without doubt increase the amount of accounts that are stolen! STUPID FEATURE!!!!!!

There is no option to "think twice" anymore, a lot of people will automatically select their login on a phishing site believing that they still have the option to investigate and change their mind before clicking login. But now? No, you can't change your mind, you just lost your account and you can thank Apple for this recklessness.

Apple, sidenote, you started out from a company I really used to love. You did things right. Now, you're like going back and un-doing everything you ever did right.

C'mon apple. Seriously, I left Windows cause windows 8 sucked. Please don't pull a microsoft on me cause I will have to switch back, and I truly don't want to.

The "Auto-Submit" needs a way to be disabled. I've been locked out of account because of this feature. It took me a few weeks to finally get so annoyed with it to take the time to write a response. I didn't even know what to call it at first, so it took me a while to find this thread. I want auto fill for passwords, but the the submit to me!

This is a Safari 12.1 issue. I am running MacOS 10.13.6 and it is happening on my Safari.

And I HATE this bug!

I feel LESS secure in my computer because I am not choosing the password and when to submit it.

This is a LESS SECURE BROWSER than it was with this Password Submit BUG.

As it has been made clear by many of the replies that there is no way to disable the auto-login feature in Safari, however there is a workaround for the sites that uses captcha. What you could do is complete the captcha before tapping the login info on the suggestions over the keyboard. That works for me, at the very least.

I am finding that I have to open about 1/5 of my frequently-used websites in Chrome because of this bug. https://boards.greenhouse.io throws a popup asking for your LInkedIn credentials and Safari puts something in there and submits it before I even know what it inserted -- but I CAN tell you that the authentication fails and the only workaround is Chrome or Firefox.

I use Safari to log in for work and they use dual authentication of my password + six digit pin RSA. So I use the autosaved password ie (qwerty-1erehq-afdfg-rhjfer)(123456)So I just enter the six digit pin. Now I have to enter the entire thing plus the random numbers! This is forcing me to use Chrome instead!

I just updated my work computer to the latest version and encountered this lovely feature. It is making my life miserable! I spoke with apple support and directed them to this thread. The senior advisor that helped me seemed to agree with this being a major issue. I forwarded the thread to the feedback page. She said she would pass it up along her channels. Hopefully they realized that they screwed up royally with this "enhancement".
